Nominator's project description
| Professor Steinbock is internationally renowned for his studies of chemical self-organization and emergent phenomena in nonequilibrium systems. He has made important contributions to the understanding of excitation waves in reaction-diffusion systems and the mesoscopic pattern formation during reaction-induced self-assembly processes. Many of his results also impact our fundamental understanding of biological phenomena such as cell communication, non-electronic information processing, and cardiac arrhythmia. In Germany, he will extend his research to questions relating to cell motion and the dynamical causes of ventricular fibrillation. |
